Women Build Future Homeowner

Dixon_Stephanie_Bio_photoMs. Dixon is a native of Franklin, Tennessee and attended Franklin High School.  She has been employed with APCOM, Inc. in Franklin for the past 31 years. “I am pushing myself to make sure that I do everything right and that I am fully prepared to make the move into my new home. I work hard for my daughter RonNesha (age 11). She keeps me busy with her activities.”  RonNesha is very active at West Harpeth Primitive Baptist Church where she sings in the choir and dances with the praise team. “I’m very thankful to have this opportunity to buy a place that we can call home. I will be much happier knowing that I am a homeowner and not renting. I’m excited about the future.”

Stephanie will build alongside volunteers during the 2017 Women Build, which will break ground on April 22, 2016 in Franklin. Ms. Dixon’s dedication ceremony scheduled is for June.

About Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury

LaylaHabitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury, (HFHWM), is a faith-based nonprofit organization that seeks to put God’s love into action by partnering with communities to build affordable housing, inspiring hope, and provide life-changing stability for families through home ownership.

In Williamson County, TN, one of the fastest growing and most affluent areas in the country, there is a significant need for affordable housing, especially among school teachers, healthcare workers, and public service employees. Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury is one of only a few nonprofits in the area meeting this need. Our home ownership program builds strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter and helps families in need achieve the independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.

Once qualified, our future homeowners, known as our “partner families,” complete a thorough homeowner education program, which includes a personalized budget coach who works with the family to reduce household debt and increase their savings for future needs. Future homeowners must also work hundreds of “sweat equity” hours, which include building on their home and the homes of others alongside local community volunteers. After completion the home is sold to the family with a zero-interest mortgage, keeping monthly payments affordable. The process is life-changing for the families immediately and for generations to come..

Also, for every home we build here in Middle Tennessee, we tithe overseas to build a home in a developing country. We build in countries like Haiti, Mozambique, and Lesotho where many families have been ravaged by the AIDS epidemic.

SuzetteCatering and Events by Suzette

To be invited to play a key role in celebrating a special day or event in someone’s life is an exceptional honor, one that Suzette Lane takes deep to heart. Her firm, Catering and Events by Suzette, has been privileged to provide planning, food and décor for many Middle Tennesseans’ most memorable occasions, from weddings, birthdays and anniversaries to private dinner parties, corporate gatherings and media events.

Formerly a co-owner of a local catering firm for 20 years, Suzette started her new Franklin-based company four years ago. “I grew up cooking in the kitchen with my parents, and by the time I was 18 years old, I started catering small events for friends,” she comments. “My passion turned into my career, and it is so very satisfying. I love the creativity of it — the fact that we can be unique with our food and our décor and really exceed our clients’ expectations.”

Today, her company handles all sizes of events, from intimate parties for 10 in a client’s home to full-scale buffets for 1,000 people. Working alongside Suzette every day is chef JJ Aguilera, who is originally from California and has cooked at several noted Nashville hot spots. JJ’s fusion-inspired back- ground paired with Suzette’s traditional Southern cooking inspires the team to prepare exquisite food with sumptuous and unique flavors. HClark_logoH Clark Distillery

H Clark Distillery is creating hand-crafted spirits one small batch at a time.  With a passion for quality and craft integrity, we take the finest grains and ingredients and transform them into the ultimate spirits experience.  Focusing on quality over quantity, our creations include Tennessee Bourbon, Black & Tan Whiskey. Tennessee Dry Gin, and New Whiskey. We craft 100% of our spirits in the old town Granary in the charming and picturesque town of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, found in southern Williamson County.  In August of 2014, H Clark Distillery became the first legal distillery in Williamson County in over 100 years, and we craft our spirits in the same building local farmers used to house grains before loading them on the railroad for sale generations ago. So it’s only fitting that a distillery is now located in the same old building, using grains to create high quality spirits to share with those in Williamson County and beyond. If you’re in the area, stop by and visit as we rebuilt a once-proud spirits tradition in Williamson County. Click here to learn more about H Clark Distillery.
